Our third lockdown livestream event took place on Thursday 25th February 2021, with another packed hour and a half of exclusive performances, outstanding music, live chat and Q&A. This show featured 9 piece progressive art-punk marching band Perhaps Contraption talking about their show ‘Nearly Human’ and sharing some of their brilliant made-in-lockdown videos.
We also premiered the fantastic live session that we recorded with Sheffield party stalwarts,
Captain Avery & the Cosmic Triceratops of Intergalactic Peace and chatted with Sophie Cooper, composer, trombonist and promoter of Tor Fest, the experimental psychedelic weekender at
The Golden Lion in Todmorden.
More details about our artists and guests below the video, and you can also check our Artists page for bonus interviews.
// PERHAPS CONTRAPTION //
Possibly the world’s only 9 piece art-punk marching band? And definitely the only ones who have created a jaw dropping piece of gig theatre about our place in the cosmos (Nearly Human)!
Perhaps Contraption is a multi-award winning, classically trained, 9-piece progressive brass band and theatrical music troupe from London. The band branched out into theatre to push the boundaries of live music performance, and find a totally new way to engage audiences in complex concepts whilst introducing
them to new genres of performance art and music.
A band for 7 years, they have performed at Glastonbury Festival, The EFG London Jazz Festival, Bestival, London Roundhouse, Cross Linx Festival (Netherlands), Southbank Centre, Latitude, Artisti in Piazza (Italy), Buskers Bern (Switzerland), and supporting Amanda Palmer throughout Europe to name a few.
