The second in our series of live stream events took place on Thursday 10th December 2020. This time we premiered an original film made JUST FOR US by Liverpool’s a.P.A.t.T., a riotous blend of experimental electronic art-rock prog-pop multi-sensory avant-garde indefinable uncategorisable brilliance including some previously unreleased live footage and some completely new material.
We also shared the wonderful stripped back live performance that New Ghost recorded in our Sheffield sessions and chatted with Stewart from Bad Owl Presents, the promoters behind Strangeforms Festival, the 2 day celebration of all things math-rock, post-rock and post-metal at the Brudenell Social in Leeds.
More details about our artists and guests below the video, and you can also check our Artists page for bonus interviews.
// a.P.A.t.T. //
a.P.A.t.T. have been baffling audiences for almost 20 years now, stretching the constraints of what a musician is expected to be whilst constantly pushing their practice into new uncharted areas. The Liverpool based collective are known for a mixture of musical, filmic and multi-disciplinary works, including live soundtracks to accompany films such as Nosferatu; modern classical pieces such as In C by Terry Riley; and in 2013 they performed the premiere of a piece of music composed from the locations of bird droppings falling on large sheets of paper.
a.P.A.t.T. are a nightmare… or a dream depending on what side of the bed you got out of that day. A compilation of the dark corners of your mind often translated into a full on toe-tapper. A riotous blend of experimental electronic art-rock prog-punk multi-sensory avant-garde indefinable uncategorisable brilliance.
a.P.A.t.T. have inspired comparisons with Devo, Metronomy, Frank Zappa, The Residents and Cardiacs, without actually sounding like any of them.
Forever redefining notions of failure and success.

A séance for dead pets
A group effort
It goes away if you wait too long
New Ghost are a Sheffield based collective making expansive music that encompasses elements of post-rock, progressive pop and shoegaze to form a recipe that is quite their own.
Founded sometime in late 2017, intended as a collaborative musical endeavour by main songwriter Chris Anderson. Citing the likes of Mogwai, St. Vincent, Mitski, Mew, Boards of Canada, and Broadcast as among the groups influences, the band is noted for utilising a wide combination of stylistic influences and an emphasis on the free flowing collaborative nature of the project.
